How long does it take to get ranked in the search engines?
It depends on the web site. A new web site on a new domain name might take a minimum of six to eight months to be ranked in Google and sometimes longer. Often, a new domain must "age" before Google will allow it to show in the rankings. Yahoo and MSN will usually show results much sooner. We generally recommend that a new site start with monthly optimization plan, where we naturally build the "popularity" of your site in stages over a period of time. It is sometimes possible to build search engine traffic on a new site without the Google delay.
How much does it cost?
Please see our rates page. Futher questions about web design rates can be asked through our online form at the top right of this page. We offer a free consultation where first we talk to you about your web site, your business, and your goals. We can then do a full analysis of your site and of your competitors' web sites to get an idea of the amount of work involved. We can then give you an estimate, or a flat fee rate for the work. We keep our rates affordable and always price our services at a rate that is highly beneficial to you in terms of your return on investment.
What do your search engine optimization techniques involve?
We use only legitimate techniques that are accepted by the search engines as legitimate in their webmaster guidelines. We do not use forbidden techniques like cloaking, keyword stuffing, HTML tag abuse, link farms, or other forms of what is known as "black hat SEO".
- We analyze your web site to see how it can be optimized further. We check the site's code and content and see how well the search engines are able to index it. We identify problems in the site structure and correct them.
- We analyze your competitors' web sites and discover why they are getting their top rankings.
- We find the best keywords that relate to your business and we optimize the content of your site to reflect your keywords. Often the best keywords are not the ones that immediately come to mind. Careful research is the best way to determine the keywords that will bring you the most search engine and advertising traffic.
- We build your "popularity" on the Web (as percieved by the search engines) in order to raise your rankings. This is done in a legitimate way, in a natural pattern.
Can you submit my site to thousands of search engines?
This is one of the major search engine optimization myths. There is no reason to submit to thousands of search engines, especially not on a regular basis. If proper optimization is followed the search engines will find and index your sites through other means.
It is actually not necessary to ever submit your web site to the major search engines at all.
If a company tells you that they will submit your site to thousands of search engines for a regular fee, they are offering a service that is currently known not to help your rankings at all. We highly recommend avoiding outdated "search engine submission" services; we use modern methods of search engine optimization.
But we do recommend directory submissions which are different than search engine submissions. Popular directories can drive a good deal of traffic to your site. Some directories are free and some charge a fee for inclusion, and we can help you determine which ones would be beneficial to your business and which ones would be a waste of time and money. Not all directories are equal, and some can be detrimental.
What do your web design techniques involve?
If no one can find your web site then it doesn't do you any good. We take search engines into consideration from the beginning of the design process. We make sure that your web site can be "read" by the search engines. Our goal is to make a web site for you that is attractive, easy to navigate, and that can be found in the search engines. We create a web site that is designed to bring you more business.
